Recommendations
The 7th Euro Arab Meeting, gathered in Hammamet, Tunisia, from 1 to 6 November 2006 discussed a broad range of topics including partnerships in the frame of the Marrakech Charter (Bangalore Revised Edition) and concluded that a series of recommendations be transmitted to Regional Committees, National Scout Organizations and that some recommendations be reserved for the personal attention of those attending.
Regional Committees
It is recommended by the 7th Euro Arab Meeting that the Arab Regional Committee and European Regional Committees:
- Give strong support to the ‘Rebirth of the Phoenix’ initiative, being organised in Lebanon and take all necessary steps, in what will be a busy year, to stimulate interest amongst National Scout Organizations to participate and contribute to the success of this important project, concerned with the outcomes of recent conflict
- Urge National Scout Organizations to consider fundraising campaigns associated with the Scouting dates, such as 22 February 2007 (Founders Day/Thinking Day), 22 March 2007 (Arab Scout Brotherhood day) and/or 23 April 2007 (St Georges Day) to support the 'Rebirth of the Phoenix' initiative.
- Undertake to identify sources of funding that could be utilised to support projects including MEPI (Middle East Partnership Initiative), Euro-Med and others, and to promote them to National Scout Organizations
- Communicate to National Scout Organizations the outcomes of the 7th Euro Arab Meeting and encourage wider participation in the 8th Euro Arab Meeting
National Scout Organizations
It is recommended by the 7th Euro Arab Meeting that National Scout Organizations operating in the Arab Scout Region and European Scout Region:
- Be strongly encouraged to finds ways of supporting the ‘Rebirth of the Phoenix’ initiative through direct involvement and other measures
Participants of the 7th Euro Arab Meeting
It is recommended by the 7th Euro Arab Meeting that its participants make a personal commitment to:
- Assume the role of active supporters for the ‘Rebirth of the Phoenix’ initiative and undertake to promote opportunities for participation as well as working with the organisers to ensure that the programme on offer is relevant and attractive
- Work together to produce activity ideas that could be used by younger age sections in support of the ‘Rebirth of the Phoenix’ and other projects, on the themes of peace, tolerance and understanding
